They say Everybody tells at least one "White Lie" daily ....
It has been said that everybody tells at least one "White Lie" every day ... and it is for the most part to spare someones feelings ...
The most are told about being sick to get out of work, boring meetings, going to the in-laws, etc.; and it depends on how you think the person you are telling the "Little Lie" to can handle the Truth ... and/or how You can handle the Response/Reaction to the Truth being told ...
But ... Most people say that Lying is wrong No Matter What!!! A Lie is a Lie and one only leads to another ...
So my question is ...
How many people will actually admit to telling ... "White Lies/Little Lies" ?????
and
Is the act of doing it done more-so on Forums/Chat Rooms than in person???
Personally ... I admit that I have told little "White Lies", mostly to family (Mom, son, in-laws) but I want to change ... I want to be a better person and handle the Truth better ... even if it hurts ...
Truth, Trust, and Communication .... these are the three things that SU and I have attributed to our lasting 23 years of Marriage.
Having said that .... I do think Lying is done more in Chat-rooms and on the Internet ... because ... you Never Really Know who you are chatting with ... and because ... too many people get their identity stolen because they tell the truth or give to much personal info on-line.
Also ... I am a very trusting individual ... when someone tells me something ... I tend to believe what I am told first ... unless I know for a fact that what I am being told is wrong. I do get hurt when I find out that what I was told is a Lie ... I try to be an Honest person and do not want to hurt someone in that same way.

Hmmm.....I'll admit to it. I have avoided a direct answer before to spare someone that I know really doesn't want the truth and/or can't handle the truth. I would say I do it more in real world than the internet. On the internet, I really don't care who knows what cause they don't really know me real world......In business, white lies are a must! Goes with that "customer is always right" bullshit!!!! in 95% of the instances, the customer is WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for your answer Kat ...
Yeah I can understand about the "customer is always right" ... bullshit ...
I think I do it most with my Mom ... she just doesn't handle things like a normal person does and gets her feeling hurt very easily ...
It is different with SU ... we have always been truthful and open and honest about things even when it might hurt to hear the truth from time to time ...

I have done the avoid the direct answer, told little white lies to honor a person's feeling and what not, however there have been times, when I was jsut pissed and didnt care, that I just said it like it was.
Most of the time I rake over things with mom so as not to hurt her and thats one of those honor things.
In my job and in my relationships, I basically tell it like it is and go from there. I use tack and ppoint out what needs to be known and be respectful, but other then that, I have to say it like it is.
It looks like I am also in the category of telling little lies to my Mom also, as I will do anything to not upset her, she can take things so wrong sometimes. So yes I tell her what she wants to hear unless it is something big. With the rest of my family I am very honest, if they don't like it so what? Most of the time they deserve it.
Out in the field at work I am for the most part brutally honest, but tactful because they need the truth, so no I am not being mean. At the office with coworkers of course I have to sometimes tell those little lies, I usually just don't want to hurt any feelings, it just isn't worth it.
With friends I am usually pretty much honest, but of course there are the little lies to keep from hurting their feelings if need be. I guess that it depends on what I think that they want to hear also.
So yes I do tell those white little lies when necessary and I don't plan to stop. I really don't think that they actually hurt anyone.
I don't have much experience with the big lies, wasn't brought up that way. The truth is much better when it comes to those, doubt that I could carry it off. Lies are easy to forget or get mixed up, the truth isn't. It stays the same.
I have found (outside of business) that when someone asks me something, if the answer is of such the nature and if I actually care whether it hurts their feelings or not, I will tell them ahead of time..."Do you really want to know? Or would you rather ask someone else?" This way they know what I am going to say is an honest answer/opinion and they can decide for themselves if they can handle that or would they rather ask someone who will "humor" them? This has helped A LOT!!!!! Any of my real friends know that I am bluntly honest and will tell them what i think, not what I think they want to hear.....this option gives them the ability to opt out with me and saves me from many little white lies. It works, it really does!
And they know that it swings both ways too, cause I would rather hear the truth than have someone humor me and shoot bullshit my way. I'm a big girl, I can take collective criticism and I am open to opinions because i like to look at many angles of situations to better understand them.

And I think most people are sheep and want everything to be PG-13 and free so they don't have to try or think for themselves........I also think most people are too pussy to hear the truth anyway!

I think you are a sheep from a different flock .......you complain about all the other followers who dont march to their own beat.
What about you, my dear friend? Whose asslips are staring you in the face ......and who is in from to him? There are many different flocks and they all have a leader. Show me a loner....
Its just like the kid who shaves his head, dyes his scalp orange, pierces his nose and scrotum and connects them with a chain. He says he wants to be an individual, yet half his class looks like him. HEEELLLLOOOOOOOO!
I tell little white lies from time to time. I dont lie about how someone looks; I simply suggest a change in a friendly manner..unless the person needs more than a little clue.
Comprende?

I am glad not to follow the masses.....I just wish the masses were more inclined to think outside the little box? That is the problem. Sooooooooo many have be "trained" to only see 1 inch infront of their own face that they will blindly let more and more of our freedom and humanity slip away and never even know it was gone because they never acknowledge that it used to exist! If the masses thought about the big picture....I would be happy to follow the masses, but instead i CHOOSE to be a realist and realistically look at the big picture and it ain't fuckin pretty!

Yes it will.....and the dumb will blindly follow with their blinders on and ugly or not I can atleast say I walk with my eyes wide open and see the whole picture. I make sure my kids see every angle as well and i explain the "picture" to them so they can decide for themselves instead of just being told "this is the picture and you will like it".

You know sometimes it is ... well .... so sicking to feel so hopeless to watch so many do this so often ... and more and more go ignorantly and blindly thinking they are doing what is right ....

Yah know, the sad thing is that making mistakes and learning is part of the process, but soooooooooooooooooooooooooo many never learn anything and just continue on blindly making the same mistakes over and over.....that is truly frustrating to me. That's usually when I find myself boldly and bluntly telling them they are stupid! And then explaining why I think this and they just look at me like "What do you mean????" Frustrating, very frustrating!!
