So, ejay, what kind of police work do you specifially do? I saw posts where you talked about your cross-training in firefighting and that you are "Public Safety". That usually means you work at an airport or a college
Cross training yes. I used to work for a University Public Safety Department which required POST basic and Fire Academy. When I first started there, the PSOs were the firefighters. About a year and a half before I left, a volunteer department was formed (I know how much you love those) and the PSOs were no longer charged with fire and medical calls.
That combined training made it easy for me to get into a full time municipality.
Prior to my University work, I worked private security and was a reserve for three years with a SO.
Now I work for a medium sized city (400,000) as a Police Officer and am in backrounds for a dispatch job out of state.
I actually got more out of my University work than I did as a reserve as I worked on my own and made a ton more traffic stops. I would recommend it to anyone. Just be ready for the politics. Limited status, yes, but you still deal with the same eliment and handle calls like any city department.
As for the dispatcher job, the BI said the same thing. But I told him I am trying to move away from Southern California and the dispatch job is with the state and pays better than my current employment. I told him I can always scratch the itch with a local PD as a reserve.
Either way, I am still not sure that I will even take the job if offered as I have a few other ops that I may explore which include USDA LE, and various sworn Park Ranger jobs that pay just as much.
im sorry i went and corrected your pic, why do you guys not like him??
Because his sole purpose in this world is to agitate and annoy people who don't agree with every screwed up idea he presents. He will systematically try to figure out what bugs you and attack you on it every chance he gets. He has no desire to have an intelligent discussion and refuses to let things drop. For example, he has this hang-up about Masons. Watch him bring it up every chance he can.

Whew! Here I was worried that the post on Announcements was somehow aimed at me. I now realize where it came from. I couldn't understand why anyone would think that about me!
The State I want to move to has little in the market of LEOs and what openings they do have usually go to one of their reserves. So with my foot in the door in a very good state job that can not only keep me on my feet, but make new friends (maybe even mason friends), I could take my time looking for the right city, or county to work for at my lesure while keeping my POST valid.
I am sorry that you think I am here just to "agitate and annoy"
Just because I don;t want to tell rookie war stories and talk about guns and holsters does not mean I have nothing to contribute.
I am sure that YOU, as a Mason are unsettled when I bring up the subject, but maybe you shuld take a good, hard look at "The Craft" and wonder why you really joined it

...and there you have it folks! Masons, Masons, Masons. All this guy knows is Masons. Look, you obviously haven't looked around this forum much at all, because the last stuff we talk about here is rookie war stories, guns, and holsters. If you would try to carry on a discussion without some reference to Masons, and use some of the humor I have seen you demonstrate, you wouldn't be such a troll.
