I second that. He is totally in the right, this guy is crying excessive force all over but admited that he was doing what baker said, and acknowledged that he refused to sign.

The only thing that saved my but was written statements that I gathered from witnesses that were out raged by the officers behavior ... Once he found out the crowed was rallying against the treatment he gave us... he backed off and apologized, and returned my licence.... Had they not been there ... his word against mine and off to jail I go ...

Sounds to me like he wanted that white devil's head for making him do what he should have in the first place. I hate racism, and especially from groups and individuals that alledgedly work for equality. This man (the president of naacp local chapter) should be charged with violating this officer's civil rights. As he has infringed on the officer's right to the pursuit of happiness.

As a police officer I see this as an afront to all officers. Especially as he used his influence with an exclusionist (alledgedly benevolent) group within the department to bring pressure to bear on the chief as wellas the officer.

Should have taken him to jail. Once he refused, all bets are off. Give him something real to complain about. Never threaten to arrst someone, give them the options, explain the consequences and then take action. Once he laid hands, he should never have changed course. It always seems that it is the assholes who get the break, in this case the guy who should have gone to jail, who complain and make trouble for you when you are doing your job. I'd sue the fuck wad for defamation of character.

This brings me to another thought. They have the NAACP. Thats all fine with me. But you know if white people had something like that, they would scream racism. They have BET or the Black Entertainment Televison. If we had the WET channel it would be racist. I just dont understand.

Yeah, I remember when Spike was supposed to be just for men. But I think Spike was much better than FAG (For a Guy).

I'll tell you whose fault that is...It is the fault of Southerners who believed (and some still do) that they have a "right" to own another race of people. The Confederates revolted agaist this nation and killed American soldiers in the 1860's. They said they did it because the President was trying to take away their "States Rights" and their "Liberty" and "Freedom" because they thought they had the RIGHT to take away the LIBERTY and FREEDOM of an entire race of people.

And after they lost the Civil War, they enacted Jim Crow laws and intimated and murdered blacks using an organization called the KKK which was started by two defeated Conferderate Generals named Nathan Bedford Forrest and Albert Pike(both prominant Freemasons)

So, how can you expect the NAACP to be reasonable when they, themselves for centuries were faced with a lack of logic and reasonableness?

I believe the time is long overdue to heal these wounds of racism and to stop playing that race card that has been overplayed so many times, but it is also time you southerners admitted your wrongs and stopped hiding behind your "States Rights" BS.

Would some of the freed Blacks been better off staying on the plantation, working for room and board instead of slaving in the Northern factories for low wages? Maybe....but it was THEIR choice to make. THEIR liberty, THEIR freedom, THEIR right, and to deprive them of that is to treat them as less than human

Nobody in the southern US is any more racist than in all other regions of the country. In fact, the most vocal factions of the NAACP are in regions of the country that proclaim to be liberal and accepting of other racial and ethnic groups. Take Los Angeles for example. The sad reality of this is that we have a nation of people, of all races, who are apathetic and lack the fundamental ability to accept personal responsibility for their lives. They look for someone to blame for their perceived misfortune and refuse to even remotely consider that they may have made some poor choices in life, or that life in general is not always fair. Whether it's the gun control nuts blaming the gun industry, victims blaming the police, or minority groups blaming WASP males, it's all the same. The old south was no different than the north. The social elite in the north, who claimed to be thinkers and educated, loathed the black population as much, or perhaps more than the plantation owners in the south. Clearly there were significant injustices in our nation's history, but to continue to dwell on them and try to figure out a way to make it a reason for today's problems is irresponsible and ignorant. Until all Americans decide to ante up and chip in, we're headed for more of the same. So take the anti-south bullshit and stick it. I'm not originally from the south, but the north, and only moved here five years ago, and did that only for the warm weather. I can make this objective evaluation without claims of bias.

History is written by the victors. What they don't tell you is that there were more slaves owned North of the Mason-Dixon Line at the start of the war than South of it. The 'Emancipation Proclamation' was not proposed until AFTER the beginning of hostilities.

As Northern States had higher populations they had more Representatives and therefore could push through legislation, such as the tariffs on cotton that forced Southern Farmers to sell their goods to Northern Factories at lower prices than what the English and French were willing to pay. But a much lower tariff on finished cloth and thread... Fair???

Also, there was the debate of State Rights as opposed to Federal Controls. Most Northern States were Federalist while most Southern States were Republican. (Not the same definition of Republican BTW.)

Get your damned facts straight before you start spouting off. The Knights of the KKK was started not as a racist organization, but a Veterans organization. It became a racist organization AFTER the death of Forrest.

The reason the NAACP plays that race card is because the Southerners put that card in thier deck.

Maybe there were Whites in the North who hated Blacks as much or more than did the Southerners, but that is not the point. The point is FREEDOM, and the South wanted to keep that FREEDOM from the Blacks. You are a Freemason. I thought you Freemasons talked all about FREEDOM from TYRANNAY and OPPRESSION. That may be the case (and Lincoln is my hero) but I am not responsible for it and I am not paying for it.

I am not going to get into an argument about slavery but the Irish were slaves to the British too. Point is, way before my family came here and I had nothing at all to do with it so why should I pay for wounds my people didn't inflict?
