Does anyone here know anything about flowers and why the mums planted in front of my home have fallen? They bloomed very nicely, and they've been watered, but one day they just fell over, lol. This is the first time this has happened, and I noticed that the same thing happened with one of my neighbors. I took these pics a little while ago.

When is the last time you gave them plant food, and did you protect them from the cold (some one said snow in new york.....I know your New Jersery......so, possable weather ...
also they are fairly big / tall... support stick?
(yes I grow things all the time. My green thumbs extend up to my shoulders according to my neighbors...)
They were planted a while ago, this is the second year that they've bloomed and it didn't happen last year. I'm guessing that they're maybe 12 - 18" in height. We haven't had snow and the temperature hasn't been lower than the 60s, I believe. They started to fall, though, before the temperature dropped.
I have given them no plant food...you have to do that with outside plants?

Do you like to eat even being outside...it does help them. Also it helps thm bloom bigger. (the only things I dont feed is trees in the ground and the bushes out there also.) temps are good.....these are not tempamental plants. My guess is they prolly are a little top heavy, and possable hungry.......
dont frget to talk to them as you work, they love that.......
Well, I didn't get that close to them. I'll take a look at them tomorrow, though. I need to tell my mom to plant something that requires very little maintenance next time.
There was one variety that I had at one point, I hated them because they had to be watered almost every day, I think they were vincas. I could be mistaken, though.
