I want to get a web cam, but have no idea what to look for. I have an IBM Thinkpad running XP, and I use IE6. I mostly want the web cam for chatting (MSN and YIM).
Any suggestions?

Photo - yeah, I'll start out wearing that, but hopefully they won't stay on long.
Wood - the laptop is company-issued; if I had to buy it myself, it would have been a Dell. Are cams hard to install? Most things are plug-n-play these days, and you just need to install the driver. I'm hoping it's no more complicated than that.
And what resolution should I look for? Is there anything I should avoid?
Thanks for the advice, btw.

You are correct, they are PNP now, and the drivers are usually on CD. Try to aviod the cheap ones {under about $25} they can give you grief. The resolution goes hand-in-hand with the cost--naturally. if you are just going to use it for chat, etc. I would stick around $35 to $45, that range will give you a pretty good picture.
It is pretty simple. You get what you pay for. That PC will run almost any webcam, probably all of them. I think it mateers what kind of quality you want. Mine was 30 and i am very pleased with it.
