oh..then get one of those spray cans that has compressed air and spray out your keyboard, I'm almost most certain it's a build up of your dander and/or scabies that is preventing the space bar from functioning properly
OK, I was getting confussed for a min. Around here, $100 is a little high, but not above the average. If I were replacing it, the total would be $65, but I cut labor for certian people.
Now just keep the food out of the keyboard and you'll be fine. Quit feeding the keyboard.

Maybe you might want to see if they make a dust cover for your keyboard. It could help keep this type of thing from happening. Or like others have said, blow it out once in a while.
I guess I will have to resort to the latter, because I haven't seen any made for ergonomic desktop keyboards. After typing on one of these and getting used to it, I won't go back to anything else.
I don't know how you all with laptops do it. Seems too cramped for me. You must have small hands.
