It is snowing......that is so cool. we made a snow man this am. He was only about 8 inches tall and had a hat made of a frozen leaf, but he was so awesome......and was made of snow and not some Texas hybrid ice/slush thing we normally get when its so damn cold that snot freezes as it drips down your nose.
Maybe I wont think its so cool if I have to stay home for another day. Texans are not the nicest drivers and when its snows....well...forget it. We are being advised to stay inside and off the roads. Plus there are a lot of hills over here.....lots of slipping and turn overs...pissed off soccer moms with out of control kids. So far so good...my daughter is enjoying her first snow, but not too thrilled about staying home from school and not seeing her friends.

I hate snow! It's winter in Ohio almost 7 months or more out of the year.....then it rains for atleast 3 more months and then it finally warms up and rains for another month! Just then the leaves turn and it stops raining just in time for snow and cold again! Did I mention....Ohio SUCKS!

And your point is???? Don't have one? Well then shut up and I'll give you one!
Bread ... I am glad that your daughter is enjoying her first snow .... sorry I can't remember how old she is ... but ... the first snow is magical to the young ... or ... even the young at heart ....
Is it still snowing??? do you know how to make "Snow Ice Cream"? I bet she would get a kick out of it ...
not hard ... if it is still snowing .... put out a clean bowl in an area that it can fill up with fresh clean snow ...
then bring it in and add vanilla and sugar and just a little milk ... just enough to make it stick together some but not too slushy ... you can add other flavors also ....
... just a thought ...

Sorry, Kat, but I am exited...even after living in Boise for 3 years, this is great. There was never much snow over there...just enough to make me wear the right shoes and layer up. More messy that anything. This is awesome for a native Texan who did not see snow for the first time until the age of 16.
Thanks for the idea IO..she will think that is so neat.....snow ice scream. It slowed down a bit, but is expected to flurry again soon. We should expect this until Thursday...the city will be in sheer emergency panic by then.....we cant go anywhere.....kids bored out of their skulls...
I was so excited when I saw the first flurry this a.m....I started yelling..."ITS SNOWING....gotta go play"....much like a puppy dog. It was so neat seeing my daughter (4) playing in the little snow there was and being so thrilled about it all. Our dog wasnt so happy.

I just wish it would snow a little here in the Hoosier state. We have had what seems like 20 inches of freaking rain this winter, but maybe a total of 2 inches of snow. I wish it would snow and be cold now instead of waiting til march...you know?
It's snowing here in Weatherford, TX this morning, CB news has Ranger Hill shut down about eighty miles west of here, Think I'll roll over and go back to sleep .....
and .... anyone in Texas ... are you getting any more snow ... or is it all ice/freezing rain ....
Bread ... did you get to make snow icecream with the little one?? .... they are calling for a mixture of winter precipitation to start here tonight ... but I think I am ready for it ...
wonder if the power will go out again ...

We didnt get to make ice cream...not really enough snow. She wants to go skating in the street, but I wont let her. Maybe when she is older. There was a group of people making sleds out of ironing boards and toilet seats found in the trash (EWWWW). They used them to slide down hilly areas of the city.Looked like fun, but I am such a clutz, I would end up with stitches in my face or a punctured lung or something. The cold air is making me weeze a bit since my allergies were bugging me to begin with. I tried to stock up on meds as they suggested, but my pharmacist wont refill my Allegra until tomorrow. Dammit.....
Another day stuck at home....maybe the ice and snow is not so great afterall. Our driveway is at a slant and even if we tried to reverse slowly, the car would slide.....that cant be safe. Dammit......wearing a sweater inside......not good.....
Did I say this was great and a lot like being a kid again...I was wrong. Give me 100 degree weather, sweaty knees and boobs any day over this.....

So Sorry Calichick .... what part of CA are you from ...
I hear that there have been some hard freezes and the crops are not doing so good ... (oranges, avocados, etc.) ....
I don't get much here either ... haven't seen any this year ... and when we do get some ... it is usually just ICE ... and that is no fun ... can not make snow men or snow angles in the ice ... like you can in the snow ... and it does get old fast ... as Bread has said ...
try to have some hot cocoa and warm up anyway ...

Yea, us Cali people have had to endure icy weather lately. Down to 25* where I am at in the San Joaquin Valley. Losses to Oranges, Artichokes, Avocados, you name it.
70% loss to the orange crop, Artichokes totally gone, Avocados have a 20% loss. This state is very much into Agriculture.
25* might be warm to some but us Californians are not used to those kind of temperatures. In some places those are record lows.

Well, the ice is melting ,now. Big chucks of ice are falling from trees and it loooks like its raining ice branches. The children I know are amused until one of them drops close to their head and almost hits them......A cold front is coming in this weekend.....a dry front...no rain that freezes. With all the ice melting now we have to look out for flooding in the flood prone areas.
I miss seeing the sun.

Been cool and rainy here in Fl also, no ice thank goodness, highs in the low 50's and lows in the middle 30's. Not much sun either, calling for more rain today, which reminds me that I need to stop and get a new set of wiper refills.
I really feel for all you that are enduring the really cold and ice, don't know how you stand it. But then you all know how I feel about cold weather-I hate it! And you know that I am waiting on summer-right now I will settle for spring. I too want to see the sun.
