Click It or Ticket

For those of you LEOs here, have you ever had to work a "click it or ticket" roadblock? I went through one today, and one cop looked extremely pissed off but the other one looked like he was having the time of his life. Is it irritating to have an assignment like that or is it just another day?

I have never worked one but I can only assume it sucks. Imagine standing outside in a dark uniform wearing 20 lbs of crap in the middle of the hot day. All you do is stand there and watch cars drive by. To me, there are better things to be doing. However some of these things are done to get grant money.

I would think that it sucks. It seems that they always do it in the morning during rush hour, well that's when I've seen it. The "click it or ticket enforcement campaign" runs until the first week of June, at least here it does.

O yea, you poor bastard.  I wonder what all the poor people you write the tickets to will have to do to pay those tickets!

If the LEO community was more concerned about our freedom as a nation instead of grant money to stuff their pockets with overtime paid from unnecessary taxes stolen from hard working people,  we would not have to worry about that ticket either

Never had to do a roadblock, but we were required during this time frame to give out tickets o those who did not have a selt belt on, when we did traffic stops.

I normally don't write tickets for selt belt, unless your acting like a ass or while doing FTO, my FTO made me.... That was his pet peeve.

I always wear my seatbelt for my own protection, but I don't think that not wearing one should be a punishable offense.

Amen, I think it is the driver's choice to wear a seatbelt. They own the car? Outside of that car, they are responsible for the welfare of their person, why not inside as well? I never wear one! Dam thing dam near killed me and my unborn child the last time I wore it. I faired much better without it the last time I had an accident.

I dont care; I have always worn a seat belt and did so even before the CLick it or ticket thing came about.

I do care about children not being properly secured in a vehicle. I try to stay out of others business and how other moms take care of their own kids, but when  I see a child jumping around in a car or a baby not in its car seat, I get in the "Slap yo Momma" mode. Even my own daughter will remind me..."Mommy, you forgot to buckle me" if I start the car without belting her in her booster seat. Its just a matter of educating children about the safety a booster/car seat provides. I hear so many moms claim that  they cant keep their child in a seat...he cries or he unbuckles his own belt. Bullshit...my kid can unbuckle her belt, but asks permission before doing so....that took a few reminders at first, but it worked. She also doesnt open the door without asking persmission. now, she is not perfect and does many other things without asking, but I am the mommy dammit and wont be pushed around or told who is doing what when they want...

Sorry...had to vent about unbuckled children.

I agree with Styx....   kids should be buckled in....

I talked to a cop once who told me about a baby that had to be literally scraped up from the road after an accident because he wasnt in a car seat. If a parent doesnt have the sense of a tadpole then someone needs to help them out. I dont care if the adults arent buckled up and think the govt should stay out of that....but when the safety of a child is an issue.....I dont have a problem with the govt stepping in.

Oh I disagree, SU. I do not like the government as much as you don't. But the way I see it is there are a lot of children brought into this world that shouldn'tbe. Someone has to look out for those babies that are unfortunate enough to be born to completely selfish people.

AMEN AGAIN!!!! I don't need the government telling me "how" to do shit with my kid. They already tell me not to disapline them with "force", but I still beat their ass and I believe they are better for it! My dad would tell us kids to sit down once, the next sound you heard was the "thud" of our bouncing b.o.d.i.e.s. smackin against the backseat and the floor! We learned quick! And no government involvement either!

*can we kill that word from the censor thing already???**

But, my dear Kat...not every parent has the common sense to warn their child of the dangers of certain things and want them to "learn the hard way" I think an 8month old baby being scraped up off an interstate warrants some government interaction, dont you? How the heck can a baby know right from wrong if they arent even allowed to grow up and learn how to learn a lesson the hard way....

Its one thing to let a kid fall off a table you warned him not to climb on, he learns the hard way when his lip is busted...he may or may not do it again. Its another thing to let that same kid endanger his life because there are no guidelines in the home OR in the country we live in. I dont give a damn about an adult who doesnt want to buckle up...it's their life. I do give a damn about a baby not being secured in a vehicle because a parent is too busy to buckle them up or a photographer was chasing them.."I was scared".....that parent will be a lot more busy and scared when that baby is smeared over the Highway......

I agree, But go after that parent and quit targeting everyone for one person's stupidity? Why should I have to wear a seatbelt because a baby got injured? If that parent was that stupid, go after that parent, don't make everyone pay for it?

But.....do you agree with protection the kiddos with stupid parents by enforcing some type of guideline to keep them buckled up until a certain age...past car seat age? I cant tell you how many times I have seen kids at my daughter preschool who are just walking around in their moms van or SUV...WALKING.....preschoolers.....little guys....not 7-8 year olds. Hubby and I have stopped the car before and issued warnings of a spanking to our child when she wiggles or takes the belt off her shoulder...it is behavior we will not tolerate for her safety and that is one thing we dont want her to learn about the hard way because it may not be a simple bump on the noggin. It may be worse. I feared the wrath of mom much more than I feared getting a busted lip when was a kid. Parents dont do that because we get in trouble.......B.S. to that. I dont beat my child when she acts up, but a few pops on the butt have save dus a lot of heart ache ......the givt butts in a lot but only because some parents have taken that simple pop on the butt a bit to far.

I may be having to issue a pop on someones butt real soon....My child is mighty quiet..... excuse me.....

She went to her room to chill out and I calmed down and and amd rewashing the damn clothes that smell like dog now. I only had one more freaking load to do and now I have o do them AAAAALLLLLL over to get dog smell out.

Parents need to learn how to raise kids properly,   some more then others....

They should know how to feed them,  discipline them,  and buckle their butts to a seat in a moving car.   If you want people to know the things that keep their child safe,  then teach them.    Start a group,  raise money..   and so on.   Just not the goverment...

Its not their roll....   to save every person in America from harms way.

Once you open the door to interfere into someone else's life because you feel what their doing is wrong....   then you open the door for others to decide what your doing is not right and needs government to come in and stop you...

Whats at steak hear is far greater then just child safety

It is not if you think you like the law or if the gov't should have made the law, it is the law and so long as it is the law, you should abide by it.
