Webpage help.....

Anyone on here have a personal website? My page is a site for family and friends to find out what I am doing.

I am trying to add graphics to my main page of my site. When I save them from the website that I got them from and attempt to add them using Microsoft Frontpage. I am unable to because they do not show up on my website. Everytime I try to add graphics that are in gif form. I have to use my AOL open (view picture) to change them to bmp. But by doing so they end with having a black background behind the graphic.

Help me please or direct me to a forum that will help me with this.

Thanks-

BBB

try this, go into your pix editor---paintShop or photoShop and save-as .jpg or .jpeg one of them and see if that works. Sometimes .gif's don't work right--happens frequently with Opera and less frequently with IE.

Keep me posted.......

With a bit more information BBB, i might be able to help, but from what you have said it is probably just something silly you are doing wrong.

You should never use .bmp images on a web page anyway, they are too large in file size and will slow the website down, .gif and .jpg/.jpeg files always work regardless of whatever browser is used to view the site.
However .png images are becoming more common, they look better than .gif and .jpg/.jpeg images and are often smaller in file size as well.
For animated images though .gif will still need to be used.

Another thing to consider is using NVU instead of Frontpage, as it will create a site that works better in all browsers.

If you would be willing for me to look at the site, or if you could send me the source code, I should be able to spot where you are going wrong.
