as most of you know my dad died a little over a year ago. My mother has been cleaning out the house (with my step brother) and her storage. Now that she is alomst completed done, and moved to her nicer..bigger apartment , these are the things I got hat can use for my lifetime and pass down.
a cast iron fryer that was my grandmothers. Mom said she got it when my mom was like 10. that means at least 60 years old, in great shape.
A dutch oven, cast Iron as well, tht was my dads mothers that also is well over 50 years old, again in great shape. (actuilly i got most of the completes set of the cast iron cookware)
Since my step bro is married and all, I got all the crystal stufff and its very nice and high quaility.
(included is a punch bowl and 12 cups, with a laddle,crystal as well, a 16 inch round party platter and dishes for the party)
I have most of the cookware that my mother didnt want or that she couldnt take. therefore I know have 3 solid sets of pot/pans and dishes. (revereware, what dad had in the milatry and corning ware) I also got all the tupperware my had and that with my rubbermaid i'll have storge for life.
I also got a huge......no......giant bonus.
I got my dads discharge paperwork, pics and the furniture that his troop made him. i got so much that Im gratful for. I also have a neigbor that is giving me a complete set of china,
man when get married...all i need is the honey moon and a house.
and Im not moving intill i get a house. I really have a three bedroom house packed into my 1 bdroom apt.
Dutch ovens are nice to take out camping. Make a stew in it and bury it in the hot coals of a nice campfire. Yum Yum.
The discharge papers are a nice keepsake, too.

STEW!!! You got to be kidding! My dad used to make the most awesome pineapple upside-down cake in a dutch oven when we went camping! Stew can be cooked in a regular pot. Silly!
Yup there's the jealousy, just a tiny bit, I am married and have a little bit of nice stuff, but my mother-in-law's house won't fit any of MY stuff so I have to make do with her out of date collection of who knows what! Ok, baby rant over, I'm happy for you!

Thats funny MIB! I have never heard that referred to as a dutch oven, makes a bit of sense though!
Dutch ovens are a very important piece of equipment if you want to feed a large group of campers though! We have a big family and those little propane stoves just don't cut it!
