Is anyone else tired of this crap? How can an entire group of people (collectively) have the mentality of a spoiled 10 year old? Everyday you get to hear some new story about some pissed off muslim blowing something up for some infathomable reason and suddenly it is a frigging global crisis, AGAIN.
Okay, vent over...and I will issue the disclaimer that I am in no way racist, bigotted (sp?), etc. But come on and grow up already...these people have to realize that their behavior in no way advances their cause (whatever that may be) and in fact just makes them look like brainless idiots.

I think it's beginning to slowly wake people up to the "Islamist" threat. To murder people, to call for beheadings, to burn buildings, and to call for a new holocaust over a cartoon goes to demonstrate just the size of the "problem".
I love the fact that EVERY islamic person interviewed on TV brings up the fact that the cartoons are hurtful and racist, but not a single one will say anything about "why" the cartoons were drawn. Not one will speak out against Islamic terrorist incidents - all 4100+ since 9/11. (Yes, that's right! over four thousand Islamic terrorist attacks post 9/11)
Just remember that one of the CAIR (Counsil on American Islamic Relations) a couple years ago stated that it was his desire to see the US constitution replaced with Shari'a law. (I wonder how that will affect state domestic abuse laws? Does that mean no more primary aggressor arrests and beatings/stonings are ok?)
If there is any doubt check out "democracy" in the middle east it'll give you an idea where their heads are at - Hamas winning the majority in the Palestinian Authority, members of the Muslim Brotherhood being elected in Egypt, and that screwball in Iran.
I agree wholeheartedly with you SB, but here is my next question:
What do you think can be done about it? With the bleeding heart mentality that has seemed to flourish around the world the more these people "act up" the more they are viewed as the poor hapless victims that must be horribly persecuted to feel so wronged. Of course in reality we all know they are hypocritical maniacs, but rational thought doesn't seem to apply in global politics, scratch that, politics in general.
So far as the "elections" in the middle east....there are scary times ahead my friend...vey scary times.

Well, I am still sicker than a dog, and on my second round of antibiotics, so I hope this makes sense.
What can be done about it? Well, unfortunately not a whole lot. The flow of money needs to stop, first and foremost. And the intelligence community needs to beefed up bigtime (especially in Canada, my home)
There is a great PBS Frontline documentary "Al Qaeda's New Front" and it sums up the problem very very well. What is going on right now is that in Middle East and Europe the muslims do not integrate. What ever country they land in, they don't adopt new customs and respect that countries traditions, that country is to adopt their's. And there is no debate. In fact their use the laws of the new host country against them, as an example, having the daily "call to pray" annouced over loud speakers, etc. (If the city government attempts to stop them they argue on the basis of freedom of religion)
But it goes further, the muslim world dominated large parts of North Africa, Europe and the Middle East for Centuries under the "Caliph" who was the successor to Muhammad (remember Muhammad was a General). So, right now the seach for the Caliph is ongoing, and once he is found, the fanatics want to reclaim the "Muslim World."
Now, why the West, including the Brits (who at one time were declared at one a Muslim friendly state and Jihad against them outlawed), is that in the Islamic world we are blamed for all their "ills" (poor ecomomies, joblessness, womem's rights, AIDS) you name it. The cultures of the west and the culture of Islam don't mix, period.
So again, you asked what can we do? We need to be vigilant. We (more so in Canada) need to redress our immigration policies, and we need to deport anyone involved directly or indirectly with Islamic hate/terror groups.
Otherwise, the hand that feeds them with get bit!
Last week Hamas threatened the EU that if they stopped funding the PA there would be violence in their homelands. And the five years following the Oslo Peace Accords were more violent than the five years before them!
Date, country, city, Killed, Injured, and Decription...
2/8/05 Iraq Baghdad 21 27 Shaheed suicide bomber blows himself to paradise, along with nearly two dozen others. About thirty are seriously wounded in the street attack.
2/8/04 Philippines Mangosatubig 2 1 Moro Islamic Front terrorists attack a fishing village, killing two and injuring one.
2/8/04 Algeria Miliana 2 0 Two policemen are murdered at point blank range by two fundamentalist youth who stopped their car on the pretext of seeking information.
2/8/04 Iraq Sawaryah 3 11 Bombing attack on the offices of a deputy police chief leaves three dead and eleven wounded.
2/8/03 Iraq Sulaimaniyah 6 0 Muslim militants assassinate a top Kurdish politician and five others with automatic weapons and grenades.
2/8/02 Israel Jerusalem 1 0 A 25-year-old Israeli is stabbed to death by four Palestinian teen-agers.
In short, I would say that we agree. My point on what could be done about it was more an attempt to point out that as a global society it seems we have let the problem manifest.
For example, how does one "beef up" intelligence when any form of "eavesdropping" is immediately seen as a breach of civil liberties? People are so worried about the terrorists rights being infringed that they don't seem to care about the bomb going off next to them (so long as the person with the bomb that just killed 200 women and children is treated extremely well and no one speaks crossly to him).
As you said, not much can be done....the funding will continue to flow because way too many pockets are lined with oil money for anyone to actually want it to stop. And unfortunately it is much of that money that finances the countries that are financing these maniacs.
Long story short it is a massive problem that won't be solved over the internet, and probably not in our lifetimes. But, I think one extreme mentality (the bleeding heart) will have to bear great pain before anything will be allowed to be done about the other (extremist islamics)
now then, I haven't had my coffee so I hope that made sense..

I liked the blog, but the "lowlights" were waaaaaaaaaaaay to short!!!
I can honestly say, that I really don't have all the answers. Heck, I don't even have one answer. Part of me thinks we've lost war of "cultures" already. I see it this way, because the cultural elitists hold bag on free speech. No one else is allowed to question or speak their mind anymore without being called a Nazi, Islamophobic, or racist. (much like the blog said)
Though I have to laugh when the "left" calls the "right" Nazis. After all, weren't the Nazis a socialist (left) labour party?
Just one last thought, I hate civil liberities unions, they always seem to be part of the problem instead of the solution. Again, I don't have the answer to the civil liberities question either.
Life is so much easier when you're head's burried in the sand.
You get me started on the civil liberty unions and we will have to start a whole other forum...although I'd bet you can already guess my view point. I hate having to dodge lawsuits just cause I am white and wrote a [insert different ethnicity here) guy a ticket, apparently that makes me racist despite the fact that I just wrote 7 white guys the same ticket.
Really it just makes me happy to know that there are other people in the world that have decided to wake up and look around. Unfortunately, I don't think we will find an answer until there has been much more bloodshed and the world changes a little. It seems that everything goes in cycles, hopefully we will find a happy medium as opposed to tracking to the other extreme when the proverbial sh*t hits the fan.
My problem is I can't put my head in the sand, I like to be able to aim at what's coming!
