I happen to be a bit of a margarita lover. Would you like a recipe for a classic rita, strawberry rita, mango rita, poor man's rita, top shelf rita, or somthing more creative?
Poorman's Rita: (it was actually poor college girl's rita for awhile and not really a rita)....double shot of tequila, add 'coke with lime' or 'diet coke with lime' to taste.
My parent's fav: in a blender pour Jose Cuervo tequila to '8oz line', add Cuervo tequila mix to line '16', add 15 ice cubes. Blend well and serve in a salted glass. (They had to use the lines as they taught me to make that particular variation for them at age 8).
Basic: 3 part tequila, 1 part triple sec., splash of lemon juice. Make it frozen by adding a cup of ice and blending.
Basic Variation: 3 part tequila, 1 part triple sec, 1 part Rose's sweetened lime juice
LimeAid Frozen Rita: 3 part frozen lime aid, 3 part tequila, 1 part triple sec
For a margarita night I'd recommend starting simply and experimenting as the night goes on (and your ability to tolerate less than perfect drinks heightens).
By having the following on hand, you can ensure that the combinations will be endless: tequila, triple sec, contrieau, sweetened lime juice, grenadine, grand marnier, fruit such as strawberries or peaches for the drinks and limes, lemons, and oranges for garnishes. Ice, salt, and sugar are also good bets.
While you may be looking to avoid the mixes, some are quite good and ensure a good tasting drink everytime.

My bad-I read quickly and for some reason thought you meant you wanted recipes for margaritas without using mixes (I have been known to be mildly braindead on certain occasions). I prefer Jose Cuervo's mixes. They're the best I've tried. I tend to shy away from the bucket mixes as their taste is a little harsher and tends to leave me with a fuzzy head the next day (cheap sugar and me don't mix well). Sorry for the confusion and enjoy the recipes!
I hated making margarita's with a passion, but I was taught
almost equal parts tequila, triple sec (or cointreau) and roses lime. I poured heavier on the tequila. Since we did pour counts instead of measuring the booze, I don't know what that equates to in Oz's.
Everyone said I made them really good, despite the fact I always tried to screw them up so no one would order a second one.
For something fun throw in some blue curacao instead of triple sec.
