SARASOTA, Florida (AP) -- Authorities say the mother of Carlie Brucia has been arrested on a drug charge.
A Sarasota County jail employee says Susan Schorpen posted five thousand dollars bail yesterday and was released.
Schorpen was jailed Thursday night in St. Petersburg on the drug charge, a felony, and for violation of a city ordinance that forbids "facilitating" prostitution.
Police say she had a crack pipe in her bra.
A police spokesman says she had been picked up by an undercover police officer who suspected prostitution but wasn't charged with prostitution because she did not offer to perform sex acts for money.
The maximum penalty is a 500-dollar fine and 60 days in jail.
Her daughter Carlie Brucia's abduction was captured on a video surveillance camera two years ago. Joseph Smith was convicted of kidnapping, raping and killing Carlie, and the jury recommended he be executed.
He faces sentencing next month. ______
She lost her daughter and now she is loing herself. She gave that POS too much power. I know that she has a lot of hurt over the death, but she let herself go.
