I like Jimmy Buffett's music but I am in no way a parrothead.
I saw that restaurant on Maui and it looked like it had a great view, but I don't eat at chain restaurants when I travel unless it's required on a work related trip.

Margaritaville in Key West just isn't the hot-spot that it used to be. I like Jimmy Buffets music also, but not alot of it,it helps when it's miserably cold and snowy. LOL

I stopped in Margaritaville to buy some stuff for a friend, I didn't even stay for a drink.

Yea, I was going to stay and just "drunk-watch" for a laugh, but the place just wasn't worth staying at. The charm just wasn't there, and neither were the customers.

Oh well ... guess that is just how naive I am ...
"the place" is or was a bar, with bunches of "buffet trinkets" and it used to be "the" place for margaritas. So I wouldn't call your self naive, you're really not missing much.

I agree. I did spend a while at Captain Tony's. I couldn't be in Key West and NOT go there.

Yes, I spent a couple hours there too, it had been a while so why not? I was going to go to Sloppy Joes, but the place was "swarming" with sherrifs and all of the storm shutters were down except one, so needless to say, I didn't stop.
It's a shame about Key West! It used to be THE place to go and have a good time. But now it's a nice place to visit and leave! I wonder if they got the draw bridges rebuilt yet, that delay added a good 2 hours to the drive!!
I flew directly into Key West, stayed for a few days, then rented a car and drove up to Key Largo, then flew out of Miami. It's still very charming, but too many of the bars are overrun with the same kind of blah people.
